Today my family and friends threw a baby shower for me!
I’m still kind of stunned! It was so thoughtful and I appreciated everyone’s gifts and well wishes. I just can’t believe that our new family member will be here in 7 weeks!
I’m so exhausted from all of the festivities this week that I can hardly think to write… It’s a wonderful time of year and I’m thankful to be able to celebrate so many events with my loved ones. I’m also looking forward to some rest, relaxation, and reflection before the new year.
One thing that I’m working on these days is a goal or mission statement for 2016. I thought that my goal would be exclusively to raise my new baby, but now I’m realising that even as a new mother, I’m going to want to maintain my own personal goals.
And not just for my own sake – being motivated by goals is one way to keep your head on straight during stressful times. I’m sure I’ll lose track of time for a few months, but once we get into the swing of things, I’ll need to fill the days. Staying active, trying new activities, and documenting moments are great ways to make the most of my maternity leave. So I’m going to set some goals – of varying levels of complexity – to keep myself motivated in the year to come.
What are your goals for 2016?
