Today was stormier than I expected.
From inside my office it looked like another rainy day, but once on the road, I realised that it was anything but. I’ve driven in worse weather, but that doesn’t justify driving on ice-covered streets. My car slipped around like crazy and, still, there were assholes speeding past me on the inside lane of the highway. Perfect.
We always hear the same justification for winter driving in the Maritimes ‘well I’ve seen worse’ or ‘we’ve driven in worse’. Yeah – we somehow arrived at our destination in a freak storm last year, but why is that justification for putting ourselves in danger today?
Anyway, I hope that we can all use better common sense when driving this winter. For me, that means staying in when it’s stormy. Please be careful out there!
