So today I tried something new and unusual.
Something I’ve only ever heard about from Ontario friends…
The traditionally Canadian Thanksgiving dish that’s made of marshmallows, pudding, and whipped cream. And no, it’s not served as a dessert.
And it was actually kind of delicious. Very sweet and unexpectedly creamy with a hint of pasticcio flavour. I wouldn’t recommend it as a daily side-dish, but I can imagine accepting it as a sweet addition to our turkey dinner.
The funniest thing about this experience? The kids at the dinner were totally grossed out by the idea of marshmallows in a ‘salad’ – kids aren’t fools!
I think I’ll share new and weird traditions in future posts. They truly make the holidays worthwhile!
