Today I spent some time with my niece and nephew. The best thing about these kids is their imagination. They make up dozens of games and spend hours just building. Creating. Playing.
Two things stood out from todays adventures – for one, my nephew had created a pretty sweet blanket fort using all manner of toys and furniture to hold it together. Secondly, both kids had created a Lego world for a motley crew of somewhat-creepy monster-people to play in. They didn’t need instructions. They just created.
Something about seeing them run and create with such ease was captivating. I think we should all throw the instructions aside from time to time. To build with our imaginations. Or to write without a plan. Because sometimes when we least intend to, we create something fun and beautiful.
