So Belles found her place. Of course, that’s in the bathroom on the new bath rug, but at least that’s one less thing to worry about.
If you’ve spent any time at all reading about organization or unpacking, then you’re familiar with the basic concepts: purge the unnecessary, keep the useful, everything in its place, and organize with pretty storage containers once you’ve completed all those other steps. Blah blah blah.
But, that said, you’re probably more of a normal person: packing everything haphazardly in boxes, unloading those boxes into nooks and crannies, and keeping some boxes in a dark corner never to be seen again. I call this “unpacking for normal people”. And there’s really no shame, other than the fact that you’ll have a little junk crammed away in you new space, much like your old space.
So that’s what I’m up to tonight slow and mindless cramming of items into new spaces. That and watching a massive thunder-storm unfold. Which reminds me – I’d better post something before the power fails again!
So relax. There’s nothing wrong with taking ages to unpack. And there’s nothing wrong with a little clutter and long-forgotten junk at the back of a closet. Because maybe some of those old dishes or that crappy tarp will actually come in handy. And if not, are they really hurting anyone?
