#PEIBurgerLove – PEI Brewing Company BIG AL’S BEER’D BURGER

image

What. a. beauty. If #PEIBurgerLove was purely an ascetic contest, this beefy masterpiece would be a front-runner.

Yesterday afternoon I enjoyed a burger and beer with a few friends at the PEI Brewing Company. The brewery has recently introduced a small pub menu, which adds to it’s potential as a fantastic hangout spot.

Grab some grub from our menu tonight during trivia – starts at 7pm! Food is available anytime after 4pm tho #peicraftbeer #thatmenutho

Of course, we had to try out Big Al’s Beer’d Burger:

7oz. Island Beef with House Seasoning, Beer Gouda, Jalapeno Remoulade, Doppelbock Ale™ Candied Bacon, and Crispy Onions on a Homemade Sesame Bun grilled with Butter, topped with an Island Red Deep Fried Mushroom

This burger was a spicy treat – the jalapeno remoulade provided a nice heat, while the garlic-and-spice patty had a nice kick to it.  I liked the gooey cheese and sweetness of the bacon. The whole burger held together nicely, there was no excess of bun, and the mushroom garnish was scrumptious! My only critique was that the burger required more mushrooms – the slight beer flavour of the deep-fried mushroom was absolutely fantastic and I wanted to experience it in every bite.

I thought that this burger paired particularly well with the delicious Gahan brews. I enjoyed mine with Gahan blueberry ale, which is one of my favourite fruit-flavoured beers; I always enjoy the blueberry flavour without too much added sweetness or the excess of carbonation that other fruity beers often lean towards.
