On Editing Photos – Are They REALLY Worth The Thousand Words?

Blogging would be a cinch – easy peasy – a piece of cake – if it weren’t for one thing…

Photos.

Still working through our holiday photos... this one is me and my little cousin enjoying a walk on boxing day.

Or, more specifically, editing photos. Because it really comes down to cherry picking a few photos and making them fit the constraints of your theme. Ugh. I can’t even.

One of my least favourite activities of all time has to be looking at photos. I know that this probably sounds odd to you – why wouldn’t I want to look at several hundred photos of you on that cool vacation you took? Yes, I am interested in your vacation – but I want it to be neatly summarized and digestible… say 100 photos? Because the story kind of loses its shine after the fifth or so photo of the exact same thing.

Of course, this relates directly to my vacation photos – all 1600+ of them. Do I want to write about those memories? Heck yes! But can I even get within 10 feet of that inexcusably large number of pixels? Not a chance. It’s like 16 gigabytes. And half of them are out of focus. UGH.

But honestly, I can’t wait to get through the selection process because there are some seriously cool memories to share! Blog posts which centre around photos are treacherous to compile, but so beautiful.

My bestie has real knack for putting together photosets worth visitng – check out her winter photoset, this gorgeous thanksgiving, or one of her adorable doggie photosets.
