As inspired by the Live this Day Journal, I’ve decided to share the biggest surprise of my past year with you. Please prepare yourself…
Yup – I wore a traditional bow hat. And it was awesome.
I’m not one for being the centre of awkward family events, but my bridal shower was surprisingly fun and sweet. My mother-in-law hosted it as a kind of welcome-to-the-family gathering, and boy did I feel welcome. We did all the traditional stuff, like playing silly games, eating delicious treats, and unwrapping fantastic gifts – and I couldn’t help but grin when handed the ridiculous bow hat that I had been dreading.
Why was I surprised? Well – to be honest I had no idea what to expect for a bridal shower. I have only attended two prior and doubted that my own would include much of a turn-out. But I was absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity of friends, neighbors, and new family members. It was a really wonderful feeling to see all of these people and know that they are a part of my life.
I felt like a princess, which is a feeling that I never expected. I am so grateful to have had this experience, even if I was super hesitant and nervous going it.
I am so grateful to have this memory, and have to say that I rocked that bow hat.
